Hallo Leute,
ich war dieses Jahr trotz aller Unkenrufe in Sachen
Sicherheit in Nepal auf dem Langtang Trek. Abgesehen von
einem traumhaft schönen Trek, Langtang hat mich wirklich
umgehauen, hatten wir nicht das kleinste Problem mit
Maoisten. Ganz im Gegenteil. In einer Lodge übernachteten
wir sogar mit 4 der Rebellen, und bekamen Yak Cheese von
denen angeboten. Von Aggressivität bzw. Spendeneintreibung
keine Spur. Vielleicht lag´s aber auch an Kurt, alias
Maikel Dai, dem Organisator und Führer der Tour, daß wir
keine Probleme hatten. Den kennt anscheinend jeder in der
Langtang Region, so wie es aussah auch die Maoisten, und
daher erhielten wir einige male Einladungen in die Häuser
der Nepalis und konnten das Leben hinter den Kulissen
erleben.
Obwohl ich normalerweise kein Fan von organisierten Touren
bin, ich hatte eigentlich nie das Gefühl in ein starres
System eingezwängt zu sein. Solltet Ihr vorhaben nach Nepal
zu gehen und dies nicht alleine machen wollen, Langtang und
Kurt (www.nepaltour.de) kann ich euch nur empfehlen.

You're absolutely right when you say those of us for whom solo' is ipoartmnt won't bother with group treks.I can and will walk forever, like the Duracell bunny, but I do so pretty slowly. Consequently, with group treks I'm either hurried off my feet and have no chance to enjoy the views, or I do two hours and then that's it, we've arrived (which for me is a waste of a good day's trek). Even worse, I get a bit of both. Since I've done the Camino de Santiago (twice), Pennine Way, and about 15 other long distance paths alone, I'm not about to sign up to the group ethic. That's the way I go. It's just the way I am. So Nepal, if it did ban solo trekking, would get my custom for a couple of weeks max to see a few temples, and then I'd head down to India for a REAL holiday.

Such a groovy outfit!! My first trip on a plane was when I was 8 years old to Brisbane in Aualrstia - it seems liked the longest trip ever!!My first big trip was to Shanghai in 2008 - so many hours watching movies;)
